What once started out as a passion to create a healthier lifestyle for myself and our family has evolved into a desire to educate, inspire and empower women through nutrition, healthy cooking and healthy living. As a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and a Certified Holistic Health Coach, I am here to support and guide you on your journey to health and wellness.
A little about me....
I have been married since 2003, have 3 children(2 boys and a girl) and live in Bucks County, PA. Our lives are busy, hectic and sometimes seemingly out of control (you know, when clean and dirty laundry piles can be found in every room of your house). We really make a concerted effort to work together to restore some sanity in our home and eat dinner together almost every night as a family.
I graduated with a Doctorate in Pharmacy in 2004 from Temple University. I LOVE science and always knew it would play a role in my life. Being a pharmacist was a great fit for me, I enjoyed the day to day of making small differences in my customer's lives through recommendations and counseling. It was a tough career and many days thankless, but I knew my purpose and was willing to sacrifice time at home while working in a stressful environment to fulfill that purpose.
I knew I wanted a change, a chance at a different lifestyle. I was personally struggling with minor health issues that I knew required my time and attention, not medications. I began wondering if there was a different approach to wellness. Did it always have to come in pill form? If not, what might that look like?
So, in August of 2014 I stopped working, and what happened over the course of the following year was astonishing to me. I finally had the time to take stock in my own personal health and came to many startling revelations; like how I dealt with stress, how out of balance my hormones were and how I was still struggling with anxiety. I imagine that all of these issues existed for much of my life but like most people I never truly took the time to properly address any of it and neither did many of the physicians I relied upon for advice. I was self medicating through food, alcohol and exercise, and like many of you reading this, thought that I was coping just fine. I wasn't paying attention to the fact that I was slowly creating an imbalance in my body. I was fatigued from never sleeping well, relied on multiple cups of coffee daily, suffered from horrible PMS, craved sugar all the time and had IBS. My light bulb moment came from reading a book entitled Woman Code by Alisa Vitti. Through this book I discovered the key reasons I wasn't having regular periods (and never have), why I was experiencing anxiety and major mood swings and most startling, why I couldn't carry my babies to term. Amazingly enough the remedies revolved around proper nutrition and exercise, not hormone pills and crazy diets! As I looked into Alisa's background I saw that she was also a Holistic Health Coach and studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). Thus began my journey to learn more about IIN and how it may fit into my life and I eventually became a student. Through IIN I have been a part of the most amazing lectures by some of the best minds in diet, nutrition, exercise, spirituality and healing. Alisa's book was just the beginning of what has become a passion for holistic health and wellness and a calling to share what I know with women who are seeking guidance and support in nutrition and healthy living.
